12:02 pm - Update
Takes the Cake by Arionrhod and McKay has been updated with another chapter. It's up to ~32,000 words. Non-magical AU, rated R.

Note: I realize this story is being updated more slowly than our collaborations usually are. It is finished, but I'm the one who does the editing and posting of our collaborations, and I'm not withholding it on purpose to make people wait for more; I'm editing and updating as I can after being body-slammed by the usual end-of-semester grading madness plus an unexpected RL event that has eaten up what little free time I have at present.

I promise I will get the remainder edited and posted as soon as I can. However, I'd appreciate understanding and patience, rather than pointed comments about withholding feedback/ratings/whatever because it isn't finished.

Thanks very much!

04:41 pm - Looking for fiction
May I ask if anyone has on file the story "Revelations" by Adrienne? It is the third part of her (unfinished) trilogy, "Perdition", "Redemption" and "Revelations", one of the best early Snupins I've ever read, in spite of the depressing themes it addresses (incest and child abuse). I thought I had saved it, but have recently discovered that in last year's computer crash, it has been lost.

09:54 am - Challenge #310: "The Unwritten Pairing"
(Remember: drabble posts now appear on livejournal and insanejournal and dreamwidth)

Challenge #310: "The Unwritten Pairing" This week's challenge might be a bit of a stretch in that you're being asked to write a drabble focusing on Snape paired romantically and/or sexually (but not necessarily graphically) with a character with whom you've never paired him before. (Note: for the fight-to-the-death OTP folks in the community, feel free to tell your drabble from the perspective of the "delusional" imagination of the other party. *g*)

Hi everyone!

Because so many people are in transit this weekend and we're still putting together our posting schedule, we're going to delay posting until the evening of Dec 1. Sorry for any inconveniences! We can't wait to get things started, and hope you all enjoy the fest!

Best,

10:29 pm - Yesterday...
...my internet connection was extremely wonky. I couldn't get onto lj at all and each time I managed to log in to gmail or any of the archives, the connection timed out on me again : ((((
It made me realise once more how much I love my flist and our little corner of fandom. So, here are a some things in fandom that make me happy today:

1. There's a new Lucius pic.

Photobucket

Isn't he dishy? (Found via alanrickman)

2. A couple of lovely Snucius ficlets/drabbles:
Propositioned by [info]alisanne
Serenity by [info]whitecotton
Watching by [info]torina_archelda.

3. Thanks to the [info]sshg_awards, I'm finally reading some of the stories that have been on my ever-growing reading list for a while and discovered grangerous's Phoenix Song. I love this story. It's well written, the plot is intriguing and the characterisations are really good, too. It stays very close to canon and still manages to tell a different and very compelling story. In the best of ways, this story reminds me of some of my favourites, written before DH – those fics that drew me to sshg in the first place.

4. There's a sequel called Phoenix Tears!

*wanders off to read said sequel*

03:04 pm - Recipe Project: Easy Brownies
Title: The Way of the World

Author: McKay ([info]scribbulus_ink)

Commentary: McKay's "Way of the World" contains some wonderful domestic scenes between Snape and Lupin in the kitchen, where, for example, Lupin teaches Snape how to cook (and survive) in the muggle world.

McKay already posted a great recipe from the story, so I hope no one minds that I'm posting one for brownies inspired by this delightful scene:

Excerpt:

"Laugh at me, will you?" Severus snarled. "You'll pay for that!"

And suddenly, Severus reached into the bowl, scooped up a huge handful of batter, and advanced on Remus.

"No -- Severus, you wouldn't!" Remus stared at him, wide-eyed, as he began backing away.

"Oh, wouldn't I." Severus' voice was a silky purr now, but his smile was pure evil.
Remus couldn't help but think that batter-covered Severus would have been even better. )

01:37 pm - Google Wave
Google Waves is something that looks very interesting, it is, however, still in its beta stage.
It is complex and will need some time to figure out. It does look like fun though, and I think that fandom will find many creative ways to use what is offered. Syndicated lj entries can be included in waves, from what I've gathered, but I didn't have time yet to look closely at this yet.

You need a google account to use the waves.

So, if you want it, first come, first serve.

It's Friday morning here in Australia, and I'm reccing this essay:

http://randomneses.livejournal.com/479704.html

It's about the Snape/Lily pairing, and why there's so much Lily-bashing (apparently) that goes on in the Snapefen camp. I don't entirely agree with it, but it's thought-provoking,to say the least.

I look forward to hearing what other members think!
